Company History
In 1985, George Gersema founded Employers Resources Management Company with his wife Mary, his brother Duke, and his college roommate Ray O'Leary. For the past 20 years, Employers Resource has been a recognized leader in the PEO services industry, ranking among the top 15 PEOs in the nation.
One of the first companies in the nation to implement the co-employment concept, we provide small to mid-sized businesses with a strong, viable solution for addressing the administrative and clerical hassles associated with employee management. Employers Resource serves over 800 businesses and 12,000 co-employees in all 50 states.
Founders
George Gersema, Chairman of the Board & Chief Executive Officer
A graduate of William and Mary College in Williamsburg, Virginia, Mr. Gersema has a Bachelor of Science degree in both business and economics. Nationally recognized for his achievements and contributions to the industry, Mr. Gersema presently serves on the board of the National Association for Alternative Staffing (NAAS), in addition to serving as president of the organization from 1997 to 1999 and from 2003 to 2005. He is a frequent contributor to industry trade journals.
Ray O'Leary, President
Ray M. O'Leary serves as president of Employers Resource from his office in Richmond, Virginia. Formerly a partner and project manager for Old Dominion Resource Management Company, Mr. O'Leary is an original founder of Employers Resource, and has 20 years of experience in the PEO industry. Mr. O'Leary received both his Bachelor degrees in English and Physical Education and Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. Well known in the PEO industry, Mr. O'Leary has served in various capacities to further its interests, and currently serves as the administrator for the National Association for Alternative Staffing (NAAS).
Mary Gersema, CPP, Director of Operations
A founding member of Employers Resource Management Company, Mary Gersema directs administrative operations for Employers Resource, in addition to serving as the company's director. Ms. Gersema holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from John Tyler College, and is a Certified Payroll Professional. She also has certification from the Society of Human Resource Management as a Human Resource Generalist.
Douglas Gersema, CFP, Executive Vice President
A founding member of Employers Resource Management Company, Douglas Gersema serves as the executive Vice President of Employers Resource, as well as corporate treasurer, secretary and administrator for the Employee Welfare Benefit Plan. A graduate of the University of Oregon and North West Christian College, Oregon, Douglas Gersema has Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Teaching. He is a Certified Financial Planner through the College of Financial Planning, Denver, Colorado.
